Today after shortly encountering a nice group of common dolphins which were busy feeding, we headed towards E to join a pod of 9 sperm whales! The whales were travelling at constant speed of about 3 knots which made it easy to accompany them for a while. Some of them did spy-hop few times and one decided to change its heading turning towards us and approaching the boat before joining again the rest of the group. Some were also rolling on their body as we could see part of their fluke out of the water. This behaviour suggests the group was also socializing while keep moving in the same direction.

We then decided to leave alone the group of sperm whales to their journey and went to meet two fin whales which were foraging. We are particularly pleased to have baleen whales still around, since soon they will be gone, so make sure to join us to see them 😉
We completed our whale watching day with more dolphins observations. Large groups of striped and Atlantic spotted dolphins knows very well how to entertain us 🙂 and so they did it today.
The swim with dolphins was also great. The common dolphins were a bit spread out, but they were divided into several large feeding frenzies, so the dolphins were in a very interactive mode between humans, fish and birds.
Lots of action going on today and we are looking forward for more wild action tomorrow 😉
