This morning we left very early for a trip starting in Ponta Delgada. The sea was flat on our way, and soon after start we encountered a Blue whale! The Blue whale was not particularly interested to be around us, but nevertheless it showed off its blow and back several times.

A little later we found the group of False killerwhales again that we had already seen in the past 2 days. They decided to stay around for the weekendbreak 🙂 But…always on the run! One large animal was leaping out of the water several times right next to our boat!

In the afternoon we went out again and this time saw 3 Sei whales! The first ones for Terra Azul in 2017, what a good news 🙂 To finish this perfect day we spend some time with our good old resident Bottlenose dolphins.

Baleenwhale funfact; did you know that these large filterfeeding animals have teeth (tooth buds) in their embryonic stages, but lose them during development? (reabsorbed)
