Today was a dolphin day 🙂 During the morning tour we saw common dolphins and again false killer whales. Yes, false killer whales actually belong to the dolphin family.  The term “whale” is commonly used to designate cetacean species that are larger than dolphins and false killer whales are indeed larger, with males reaching 6 meters in length.

The group was very spread out travelling at sustained speed. Their slender body and elongated head make them quite peculiar.

false killer whales can be curious and in few occasions they approached our boat as to check us out. Although they feed on fish and squid, occasionally may attack other marine mammals and possibly their presence today triggered an elusive behaviour among dolphins, which soon disappeared from the area. In the afternoon though we saw the common dolphins again.

Let see if tomorrow they will be still around, as usual every day is a surprise 😀
