A day with commons and pilot whales

Once the weather allowed us to go out, off we went. The Common dolphins were the first ones we saw today. They were very calm at the surface, diving down to catch some fish. They were kind of spread out, which made it hard for us to determine the numbers.

Yesterday we saw nothing but commons, but today there was something else. We were going Eastwards to see Risso’s dolphins, but instead we saw pilot whales! You could easily see the broad dorsal fins, and of course their big robust black bodies (blackfish).

There was also a calf! A real tiny one. Among the commons we saw before, were also some calves.

Remember that during the tour, especially in the winter, some water can always enter the boat. It’s part of the deal! So we always advice to wear warm, waterproof clothes on board. It happens, but don’t let this bring you down! Tours are supposed to be adventurous, right? ?
