Lucky charms for some Mackerel for others !!!

Sunday`s are always such pleasant days, quiet for some but for us never lacking excitement.

It has been a while for me since I have been out in the Ocean, and every single time it is such a different feeling.

I was so happy to be able to observe the migrating Cory`s shearwater (Calonectris borealis) majestically flying over the ocean. They had left during winter for their yearly migration yet have now returned to start their breeding season in Azores. I was never much of a bird watching enthusiast, but that all changed when I was able to observe marine birds out in the open ocean. Now it is with joy that I observe the birds in flocks moving to the natural oscillation of the waves.

Our guests today were very enthusiastic about observing the Common Dolphins (Delphinus delphis) feeding on a school of small fish, everyone got inn on the action. Seagulls were enjoying breakfast as did our 4 colored friends.

The mist started to circle to coast of the Island of São Miguel, yet we spotted immediately not to far away from the Common Dolphins a blow.

Excited we went and it checked out, and a massive blow made it clear we were observing a male Sperm Whale (Phsyeter macrocephalus), the whale dove into the depths of the ocean and we patiently waited to observe it again, not without enjoying our beautiful Common Dolphins swimming around the area we were.

The whale came back to the surface to breath and after having rested it dove in order to search again for those yummy chepalopods that it enjoys so very much.

So while some were enjoying breakfast on land our mammal friends were enjoying breakfast underwater.

All I have to say is this sounds very fishy to me 😉
