Hello everyone!
As you could read on facebook there is a new study that shows that putting lights on the fishing nets can reduce the accidental bycatch of sea turtles, seabirds and small cetaceans.
How does this work?
In this study they say that in one hand, LED light are one way that they an alert the species that in that place, fishing gear is being used in the water and in the other hand the lights don’t reduce the amount of fish caught.
With this technique, the fishers will be able to fish in a more sustainable way!
