The sunny afternoon, turned out to be a wonderful occasion for very fortunate whale-watchers to see sperm whales. sperm whales are the biggest of the toothed marine mammals. Not only these kind giants are fascinating but they build strong social bonds, that allows them to protect, feed and travel together. They own the largest brain in the animal kingdom. These fascinating creatures are always so beautiful to admire under the September sun in São Miguel island.

We continued our tour in the afternoon in order to find a big pod of common dolphins, but they were all juveniles or calfs. common dolphins are very social animals that enjoy interacting with humans, yet when there are small calfs involved animals will always protect their own. With that said we were respectful of their space and ended our tour with a beautiful coast ride around the southern part of our magnificent island.
