what a cheeky youngster?!

Today, we need not even 10 minutes until we found the first species..

Common Dolphins!

Common Dolphins surfing waves, the first to catch a fish is the winner! – Delphinus delphis

Being precise a huge group of at least 60 individuals or even more (not so easy to estimate, as they are always moving 😛 ). The sea was calm and the dolphins super relaxed! Lucky us, as it was very nice and easy to observe them as they just stood close to the boat without moving a lot. Amongst them, we could see several babies and juveniles. Especially the babies are just lovely being sooooo small and giving their best to keep up with their mothers and the group. One of the babies called particularly our attention as it was considerable lighter as the others. We are not sure but might be an albino??? 😉

Common dolphin mother and a newborn calf – notice the white fetal folds on the baby (Delphinus delphis)

Also the juveniles were amazing, as they teased each other and practiced somehow their breaching abilities! So exciting!

One of this youngsters came extremely close to the boat, swimming for some seconds parallel to it on its side and then slept the tale strongly! What a sense of humor, this funny guy managed to make the left backside of the boat wet!
