Suddenly it is very warm out here, for the past days! Doing the morning briefing in a sweater is too much, and t-shirts are appearing more and more at crew and visitors.

Then we went out. Starting the day with a large Fin whale is always a pleasure! After a while another one appeared, this time a small calf. Probably with a size between 6 and 8 meters long. Adults can reach up to 25 meters, being the second largest animal in the world.

After the whales, we had a real fun group of Common dolphins around us. For the past days the Common’s are really interactive and showing off. And its true; babies really are coming. Although they get their offspring during all the year, it is clearly getting towards main birth season right now.

On the way back to the coast there were a lot of Portuguese man o’ war polyps again, and also an unexpected group of Bottlenose dolphins near to the islet of Ilheu. An ocean full of surprises every day!
