Welcomed by a stinky blow!

Sei whales are never easy! And this morning they proved it to us again 🙂 We went out on a fairly calm sea, and were guided by our lookout Andre, to all directions you can imagine! While Andre already  saw the whale many times, we were not able to find her for a long time. It was like playing hide and seek, because the whale was feeding and then they change direction all the time.

When finally some life appeared on the surface, it turned out to be a huge loggerhead turtle! This old individual must have been ready to leave the Azores and travel back to America where they come from in the first place 🙂

So, than the whale finally came up, and it was together with a big stinky fishy blow!

What a kind welcome after waiting for almost 1 hour….to be greeted with a rotten fish smell in our face.
We stayed with the whale for a while, as she was blowing many times near the boat.

Then we went to see our friends the Bottlenose dolphins. It was an unusual large group of an estimate between 70-100 animals. They were socializing and mating and giving us some good close up views of themselves.

What comes tomorrow? 🙂
