Celebrate Ocean day by blowing in the wind !

The morning on the coast line was so beautiful, but when going out to sea the wind started blowing. Azorian weather can change very quickly due to its location on the Atlantic Ocean.

What an amazing day to Celebrate Ocean day by experiencing the ocean and it’s changing waters.

When one experiences days on the ocean, all elements can influence the water state. Today Northwind was blowing over the island creating foam crests at the surface, these foams crests are called whitecaps. Whitecaps are a whale-watcher worse enemy since it makes it very difficult to observe the blow from the animals. Today was a day were the experience of lookout had to be tested. But fear not, Nicole our lookout was able to locate the blow of a resting Sperm Whale (Physeter macrocephalus), the beautiful animal stayed for 5 minutes at the surface before diving.

Guests, guide and skipper were looking over the ocean in order to locate the animal. Due to the white caps everyone was helping out. we sailed afterwards to calmer waters were a pod of common dolphins were socialising.

So today my advice to all our readers is to always bring a waterproof jacket, a small bag to always protect your belongings from water and a warm layer for you to be protected from wind even on a sunny day at land. Travel light but always have a small bottle of water in order to hydrate yourself and never forget to always bring your good humor and excitement when going out on the ocean. And let’s face it there is nothing better than being out at sea.
