Truly Herman Melville the author of “Moby Dick” would have changed his mind if he ever could have come on a whale watching tour in the Azores. He might even have changed the whole story. Truly there is nothing terrifying about sperm whales. These amazing animals, make people appreciate the majestic grace of marine mammals. Today we were so lucky to observe the movement of a deep dive, truly worth the wait, once we see the fluke of a sperm whale outside the water. In the morning our whale watchers observed a lonely male and a small group of 4 individuals travelling next to the coast. For sure their pictures are going to be amazing.

We left in order to find our resident dolphin the famous Bottlenose dolphin. These dolphins are always very active and it is a treat to compare how different cetaceans behave, swim and differ in size.

Today was again a bliss to be out in the ocean observing these majestic creatures. The only thing I can say is “Herman Melville, you got it all wrong”.
