Sperm Whale Sightings for 2015 (and still counting!)

So up until this moment in the season we have spotted Sperm Whales 193 times!

These are all the sightings we recorded this year, from Marnch until now. Beware that sometimes the individuals we spot can be the same ones on different tours and days! To know this we collect pictures of their flukes to do photo identification. We can recognize the individuals by the unique differences in the flukes. Of course sometimes some flukes are very similar and therefore very hard to identify.

On board the guides collect data during the sighting and the photos (when the weather is not putting our cameras in danger of taking a salt water bath!).

All of this research is done with the MONICET project which we involved in.

The season is not over yet! So hopefully we will sight more Sperm Whales to add to the data.
