Active Risso’s Dolphins and Sperm Whales!

Hello everyone!

After a stormy day yesterday, today we were able to go out to see some life!

First encounter was with a group of Sperm Whales (Physeter macrocephalus). When we arrived we spot one animal, and then we checked with the hydrophone to hear the clicks and by the amount of clicks we coud hear there was more than one animal. When this one dove we saw 3 more, including a female and a calf, probably feeding. Then the two of them dove together and the other one stayed at the surface resting.

We left the Sperm whale resting and went for the Risso’s Dolphin (Grampus griseus). They were socializing with each other and they also had 3 or 4 calves, that were swimming really fast. It’s so nice when we get to see them active because they are usually shy.
