With October comes autumn !

We started our trip this morning while the sun was cloring the water.

It is just insane how the weather changes in Azores, we reached the coastline of the town called “Povoação”, the water was calm and still like if we were actually navigating on a lake.

The Common Dolphins (Delphinus delphis) where curious and peacefully swimming next to our boat, we could hear their blowhole closing and opening when surfacing and going underwater. It is actually a quite pleasant sound to hear =)

we continued to navigate and just a few miles out we quickly felt the ocean changing and the wind blowing stronger. This was no challenge for our experienced lookout, Filipe. He indicated us that 3 Sei Whales (Balaenoptera borealis) where spotted from the coast. We sighted only one individual but this did not matter to us, we were happy to experience how big these animals are since the individual sighted was at least 14 meters in length.

In the Same area we sighted a group of Atlantic Spotted dolphins (Stenella frontalis), there are no words to describe the beauty of the spots on their skin. Here is a picture of our library for everyone to see what I mean.
