Sperm whale mommy jumping!

It was a flat, flat morning sea today! It has been some weeks that the sea was good like this, but it certainly felt like much longer ago! When we left the marina, we set a straight course towards Povoação, where Filipe with his binoculars already spotted a pod of Sperm whales! There were at least 3 animals in the area. But we always stayed in the presence of a mother with her tiny calf. It seemed like mom was teaching her calf how to do a ballet show, because she was jumping out gracefully into the our at least 4 times! A pity she always jumped out in another direction so it was not possible to take photos of her show this time 🙂

Then there was another surprise, the Atlantic Spotted dolphins are STILL here! They haven’t showed up for the past 16 days, so we were expecting them to be gone by now, but no! Totally fine for us, we would like to have them here as long as possible, and it seems like this year it is going to be a late migration for them, to the warmer waters of the South Atlantic 🙂

What do you think tomorrow brings? 🙂
