chill out area

Hello, hello my dear whale watchers…

Going out for the afternoon tour, we found a group of sperm whales relatively far out.  We could detect them from some distance, as their bodies where reflecting the sun as mirrors.

sperm whales (Physeter macrocephlaus)

Arriving there, we found a group of first 4, after while 6 and finally even 10 individuals. At the beginning they were literally just chilling at the surface taking a sunbath. Maybe they were hoping for a nice tan as we do!? Hahaha…

It was really nice to observe them, with the engines completely turned off and listening to their blows…

After a while the group started travelling slowly. However, they remained on the surface with slow movements barely under the surface.

What a nice sighting!

Thanks for having us around in your chill out area! 😀
