Hello everyone!
This week we had a presentation together with Expolab about the marine litter and the biodiversity of whales and Dolphins that we have here in the Azores.
We also talked about research projects that Terra Azul is involved so the kids learned more about what researchers do and what kind of projects they can do.
The main goal of this shcool group was to go to the sea and find any kind of trash so they could colect it and take it to land so they could take more information, type of trash, weight, etc. Afterwards, they put a small net on the water to capture microplastics.
By the end of the tour they didn’t got any plastic, but it could have many reasons to that, such as wind direction or just luck but nonetheless it’s a great start so the young generation has the knowledge to stop the plastic and learn about it’s consequences.
