This morning we started with a group of Common Dolphins and no Whales….let it be the exact opposite this early afternoon with 2 huge Fin Whales and no dolphins. How unpredictable can wildlife be 🙂 but that’s why we love it.

The Fin Whales came close to our boat and at least blowed their blowholes 25 times. In a period of 1 hour we observed how they made several shallow dives of about 5-10 minutes each. Once we thought we lost them for 20 minutes…but suddenly those huge whales just surfaced right next to our boat!! It was an incredible sighting. They were feeding during the whole trip….that’s exactly what they come for the the Azores….passing through our waters while moving to their feeding grounds. Meanwhile they will also feed here but their real feeding and breeding grounds are elsewhere.
